Why does windows 7 think my printer is offline

The problem is that Windows never puts the printer back into an online state after the printer becomes reachable again. I've never even looked at the community name on other Konica bizhubs I've deployed and never had any problems.
After checking this C, it looks like the setting was saved from last time it was used and never reset. I set to match the other bizhubs community name of public and it's now staying Ready. Glad you found the issue. That was exactly what I was going to suggest you look at.
Not sure when Windows introduced this feature, but at some point it was turned on by default for all new network printers added to Windows. The printer would show up as online for a brief moment after being rebooted and then everyone's computer would show it offline. Set it back to the default public and went back to working. We decided it would be far easier to leave it than to go around and change everyone's machine settings.
We could probably change it now that we use AD and deploy printers that way, but it's not enough of a problem to bother. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. Laplink Software, Inc.
