Golden Axe 3 features a secret formula for determining whether you get the good ending or bad ending. To achieve the good ending you must recover the Golden Axe.
The game features two versions of the final boss; you'll encounter the first form regardless of what you do as long as you make it to the end of the last level. If you defeat the first form, you'll return from the castle and either 1 teleport back to the final boss room to fight the second from of the final boss; defeat him and you'll collect the Golden Axe or 2 the game ends and some scrolling text tells you that peace has not returned to the land because you did not recover the Golden Axe.
There are 2 factors involved in determining whether you fight the second form of the final boss and a chance to get the good ending: A the number of continues remaining after defeating the first form of the final boss you start the game with 4 continues B the number of possessed main characters defeated during your playthrough.
So for example if you take the top path at every branch point in the game you won't save any heroes; in this case B is 0, so you'd need all 4 continues when defeating the first form of the final boss to see the second form.
Put another way, you're given 4 continues when you start the game. For every possessed main character you defeat along your path, you're able to lose one of those 4 continues when you defeat the first form of the final boss and still get to fight the second form. Lose all your lives and in the last life, die and immediately press and hold start. If you did it correctly, the screen "resume play and give up" will appear. Choose "give up" and the number of lives disappears.
This is best if done on the very first level. Pause, then select "give up". Then do this again. Now, walk up to the dragon in front of you, and take damage. Then, get hit again, but this time, on the exact frame that you take damage, press and hold pause. If you do it right, then the pause menu should open right when you fall off the screen. Now, select "give up", and when you enter the game again, the lives counter won't have any value.
If you pick up an extra life, or get one at the end of a level, then make sure to "give up" a few times. If you finish a level with the lives counter on zero, then the game will reset entirely. Other than that, you can go through the whole game and die as many times as you want without even losing a continue. At the end of Blue lake woods there is a series of blocks just above the flag. Jump to the last one and then press down and right, jump and special together.
You will be warped to Plethora, the last level. It is possible to have armor equipped even if it is not in your possession This is the tricky part You'll know if the glitch worked because you won't be able to unequip the first piece of armor.
Now you can give the armor to another character! This will allow you to dupe any item in the game, even the Nei items. It even helps when you need to buy knives, or multiple armors.
Make sure one person has at minimum 9 items and a max of 15 just use antidotes as they are cheap. Go to the item you want duped, and press "C". A menu will pop up " use" "giv" "tos". Now back out until you can select another character. Go to the character with the antidotes press " C" on next, and then go up to next again, but this time press "B" and "C" Simultaneously and you will see the "use" "giv" "tos" menu.
Select "giv" and give it to the person with the antidotes. Keep doing this until you no longer see an Antidote in your inventory. Now you can sell all those extra weapons and armor for massive profit. When examining the nearby area with the A Talk, Examine button, the next step you take is guaranteed not to take you into a battle.
Keep hitting the A button Talk, Examine while you walk, so that after every step it will say ''There seems to be nothing unusual here. In battle, get all of your team members KO-ed except for Nei. Then get Nei to cast Nasak and she should KO herself. Then, your characters will turn invisible and you can walk around dungeons freely. This works in all version of PS2. This trick allows you to have different music play in other areas, using the slow motion code.
First, you go to the area that has the music you want, like the weapons shop for instance. Next, press start and hold B.
The game will move in slow motion with no sound, so you can still move. Now, then go to another place and let go of B, then press Start. The music from the place where you first pressed B and Start now plays in this area! Cool glitch! A glitch in the game will allow you to make either Laya or Kara always act first in battle and be immune to physical attacks, as well as moderately improve the speed and defense of the rest of the party.
Decide who you want to always act first and be immune to physical attacks - Laya or Kara. Remove all items from that person. Speak to the second from the left old man, who says "Nei is the word of ultimate power". Check your status screens. For the person who had no equipment, attack and defense should be in the 64, range, and speed in the range.
For the others, the attack, defense, and speed bonuses of the Legendary weapon they had equipped will be permenantly added to their base stats. Unfortunately, none of the increases to the attack statistic have effect on damage dealt in battle. The only way the person with 64, defense will be hurt is from a Gnasher who will do a whopping 4 damage or from techniques which are unaffected.
She will always act first. Colours will be unusual - this will be corrected once you check your menu and leave Skyhaven 2. Last person in line will be shifted out of place - this will be corrected once you leave Skyhaven, and the out-of-line person will not prevent you from moving 3.
Characters will be renamed - this is permanent but harmless. You can win a battle instantly if you have the following situation: 1. Surprise the enemy 2. A technique bearing character with fewer TP then what a spell costs ie 4 TP for a res spell Instead of fighting, choose the "single player command" option and have that character try and cast a technique they do not have enough TP for.
You will get a message that states something like "Not enough tech points", then instantly emerge victorious. Very helpful for when weak and facing several enemies. This will not work unless you surprise the enemy. An escapipe glitch allows players to skip over Nial's generation directly to playing Aron. Aron will need to do some of Nial's quest, but it goes much faster and easier with Aron, thanks to his healing and access to the Aero Parts.
As Rhys, before fighting the king of Cille, make sure Wren or Mieu has an escape pipe. After defeating the king, select Nial's route by marrying Lena. Do not choose Maia as the glitch does not work for Ayn. As soon as the cinema is over and you can move, go into your menu and use an escapipe.
As Nial, you will warp back to Cille dungeon. Walk through it again you will encounter only Chirpers. Select Aron's route by marrying Alair. Do not choose Laya because Adan will be unable to complete his quest.
At this point you play as Aron. Collect the Aero Parts as normal. Fly to the rebel hideout and pick up the Sub Parts. Go to Hazatak using the caves to Landen, Aquatica, then Aridia. Get Laya as normal. Go to Mystoke and get the Laya pendant.
At the very start of the game, go to the store and sell Rhys' Boots and Garment to earn some money, then purchase an Escapipe with that money. Now continue with the story as usual.
Once Rhys is sent to the dungeon by the King, use the Escapipe to teleport outside of the cell, and go back up the stairs. You will now be locked inside of the area with no way to progress the story. None of the soldiers will interact with you, and the King will state the following if you speak to him: "You used you're escapipe! Normally a smart move, but now I'm afraid the game can't be continued.
Please press the Reset Button and start again. If you ever happen to get a character to reach level 99, this odd glitch will occur.
And everytime you should go up a level, your character will go down another level. Although your stats screen will still say you are level Enter the following code at the Title Screen To earn , points when you battle any boss except Stavros reduce your foe to within a flame or two of destruction, then stay out of reach until the last ten seconds.
At the very last second, use ninja magic to destroy the boss. In the bonus round where you have to shoot the ninjas, you can either kill none or all ninjas. This will give you an extra life. Contributed By: captain cartridge. Choose BMG selection on the options menu, then, press B to select the following songs in order. Set the amout of shurikens to 0 on the options menu, Set the sounds effects option to Shuriken.
Highlight the shurikens option and keep it there and the 0 will change into the symbol for infinity. This cheat makes it possible to play the game with a new 6 Button controller scheme. You need a 6 button controller plugged into port 1 and any regular controller in port 2. Highlight "Options" on the main menu. Normally when you're in the Options menu, it says "Options" at the top, with an S on the end. Highlight Options but don't go into it yet.
With all these buttons held down, press Start on controller 1. Now you're in the Options menu, it now just says "Option" at the top without an S. This means 6 Button mode is on. This is what each button does.
A is the Block button. B is a Melee attack. This is a glitch that can help in speedruns when used in the right spots. First, you need to be in an area that has a low ceiling and a wall to jump off of.
When you first try this, make sure you have a good amount of shurikens maybe This is because it may take a lot of times to successfully do it. Also, make sure you have a ninjutsu available, and set it to Jutsu of Fushin. Use the ninjustsu. Then, do a wall jump, and then right about when your head hits the ceiling, throw a shuriken at the same time.
If you have the fire button right next to the jump button, you can pretty much just roll your thumb from the jump button to the fire button. If you throw the shuriken at the exact right moment, you should go right through the ceiling, and stay there. When you press left or right, you'll sort of zip a short distance in that direct, but then start moving in the opposite direction at a slow speed.
You have to be careful, because in some spots, you will become trapped when you reach a certain area. Use this code provided, then go to sound select, and select sounds 9F for the ending or 9E for the credits. When you ride the green block accross a sea of lave, there are a couple of big blocks in front of you with rings on.
The green block will go underneath the blocks, but sonic will remain on it, and pass through the walls. On act 3 of labyrinth zone, there is a spot where you have to hold onto a bar, and slide down to avoid the spikes. When you get here, you need to have only 1 life, and no rings. Then, wait until the counter is between 3 and 2, then get pulled by the suction.
When you are holding on to the bar, wait until it hits 0, then let go at the exact moment the music stops, so you hit the spikes. If you do it at the right moment, it should say game over, but then itll go back to the beginning of the level. The lives counter should look a bit odd. This means you have lives. If you collect another life, it should show the lives count as 0, but you will have lives, or more.
Using the level select cheat, scroll down and select "Special Stage". Upon completion on the stage, you will receive a chaos emerald, and begin playing your game on the first stage. You will enter the next Special Stage level, and have a chance to earn the 2nd Emerald. You can repeat this process over and over until you have all 6 Chaos Emeralds. However, once you have all six, do NOT reset the system and select a level, or else you will lose them all.
At the start of Scrap Brain Zone Act 3, there is a switch that activates a platform in front of it. If you are fast enough which you are , You can run under the platform and skip a good chunk of the level. Go to the Options menu from the title screen, and then while there go to Sound Select and play sound number 7E.
You'll notice that the game music had stopped. Now start the game and you'll be able to play the game without any music and sounds. Weird trick, but you can play this game in slow motion. First, enter the level select code, found somewhere in the list of all other codes.
